The lawyer and specialized lawyer in criminal law Dr Ulrich Leimenstoll is a partner in the law firm Gercke Wollschläger which he has already belonged to since the founding phase (initially as a trainee and associate). He provides advice and acts as counsel for the defense in all areas of the commercial criminal law. In addition to the area of embezzlement, his work particularly focuses on medical criminal law and labor criminal law. He acted as counsel for the defense in the banking proceedings concerning the Sachsen LB and the banking house Sal Oppenheim as well as in the Cologne AWB (waste management business) bribery scandal and the Ford corruption proceedings. Inter alia, he is currently defending clients in so-called “Dieselgate” proceedings and in numerous medical criminal proceedings on account of charges of submission of false claims, corruption in the healthcare system and medical malpractice. He succeeded – according to the handbook “Kanzleien in Deutschland” [Law Firms in Germany] as early as in the year 2014 – “in making a name for himself as a criminal defense lawyer” as well as attracting “nationwide attention.” He is considered “smart and committed” (Juve Handbook 2015/2016).
Dr Leimenstoll regularly publishes on medical and commercial criminal law subjects (e.g., Gercke/Leimenstoll/Stirner, Handbuch Medizinstrafrecht) and is a permanent member of the staff of the journal of the German Commercial Criminal Law Association (WiJ).
Dr Leimenstoll studied at the University of Cologne and as a scholarship holder at the Sorbonne in Paris. During his studies and the legal clerkship, he worked at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the University of Cologne. Dr Leimenstoll did his doctorate on embezzlement (in the medical field) under Professor Dr Seier.
