Proceedings under professional law
Criminal investigation proceedings against members of the “liberal professions” (physicians, pharmacists, lawyers, notaries, tax advisors, auditors) are often accompanied by proceedings under professional law. Apart from the risk of punishment, there is also the risk of professional consequences in these cases, which may reach to the exclusion from the profession. Furthermore, they may be the starting point for claims for damages under civil law that are asserted against the professional. Within the scope of criminal proceedings against members of liberal professions, possible consequences under professional law must always be considered.
We have long-standing experience in defending in proceedings under professional law. Where required, we cooperate with colleagues who, due to their expertise in civil law, in particular insurance and liability law, assist us in warding off financial claims in connection with a criminal charge.
